Refunds & Cancellation
This page explains how to cancel Trybe, how to ask for your money back, and — the part that trips people up — who to ask. Trybe (Pty) Ltd does not take your payment directly in either case, so the right route depends on how you bought.
1. The free trial
Trybe is free for your first 14 days. We do not ask for payment details to start it, nothing is charged, and it does not turn into a paid subscription on its own. If you do nothing when the 14 days end, the app simply locks until you subscribe. There is nothing to cancel and nothing to refund.
2. Personal subscriptions ($1.99 a month, $21.00 a year)
A personal subscription is bought inside the app, which means it is sold to you by Apple or Google, not by us. They take the payment, they hold your card details, and they decide refunds under their own terms. We never see your payment details and we are not able to issue a refund for a store purchase, even where we would like to.
Cancelling
Cancel in your own store account — App Store → your name → Subscriptions, or Google Play → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next payment. It is not a refund: you keep full access to Trybe until the period you have already paid for runs out, and nothing is removed from your account when it does.
Asking for a refund
- Apple: go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account that bought it.
- Google Play: use the order history in the Play Store or Google’s refund request form.
Both have their own time limits, so it is worth doing promptly. If something about Trybe itself went wrong, tell us at hello@trybefit.co.za — we cannot process the refund, but we can confirm the fault to the store, and we would rather fix the problem than have you leave over it.
3. Business plans (R399 per employee per year, or R39 per month)
Business plans are bought through a payment link we send you, not in the app. They are sold by Trybe (Pty) Ltd and paid securely through Payfast, a South African payment provider. Prices are in South African rand; an international card can pay in its own currency, converted by Payfast at the day’s rate. Payfast emails a receipt for every payment. Plans start at two seats, and every new business gets 14 days free from the day we verify it.
Our promise on a new subscription
If a business plan is not right for you, tell us within 14 days of the first payment and we will refund it in full. You do not have to give a reason. This applies to the first purchase of a plan, however many seats it covers.
Renewals
A business plan renews every month or every year, whichever you chose, until it is cancelled. Payfast emails the billing contact before an annual renewal or any increase. If a renewal has been charged that you meant to cancel, write to hello@trybefit.co.za and we will look at it properly — an unused renewal charged days ago is not the same thing as one eleven months into a year your staff have been using, and we would rather judge it than pretend a single rule covers both.
Cancelling, and what happens to your people
- Cancel from your business page in the Trybe app, or by writing to hello@trybefit.co.za.
- Nobody is cut off on the day you cancel. Every employee seat stays fully active until the end of the period you have paid for. Someone in the middle of a challenge finishes it.
- When the period ends, each person keeps their Trybe account, their history, their streak and their trophies. What they lose is the company’s subscription. They can carry on by subscribing personally in the app, and nothing needs to be moved or re-created.
- Removing one employee frees their seat immediately for someone else. It does not refund that seat.
Adding seats
You can add seats at any time. You pay now only for the added seats, prorated to what is left of your current month or year, and from your next renewal the plan bills the new total. Added seats are covered by the same 14-day promise above.
4. If we cancel
If we close an account for breaking the Terms of Use — cheating, abuse, or anything else set out there — no refund is due. If we withdraw Trybe, or a paid feature, while you are inside a period you have paid for, we will refund the unused part.
5. Your rights under the law
Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot lawfully be limited — including under the South African Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, or the equivalent consumer law where you live. Where the law gives you more than this page does, the law wins.
